We know that the third lockdown rules can be a little confusing when it comes to the housing market.
If you’ve been tuning in to the barrage of news conferences from the government, whether it’s Boris, Matt, or Rishi, you may be feeling a bit overwhelmed, and we’re completely on your side.
There seems to be a new announcement every week, or sometimes everyday currently. Which is why we think it’s important to be a solid point of contact on at least one of those topics: the housing market.
Our team are open to your calls and emails relating to what you can and can’t do in the current circumstances, especially if you were planning on making 2021 your year to sell, move, or buy.
We want to assure you, that you can still do all these things during this lockdown (unlike lockdown #1), although you may also experience some delays while the stamp duty cut is in play (this ends on March 31st 2021).
Wondering about mortgage payment holidays?
We’d like to inform you that, while mortgage holidays were originally due to end on 31st October 2020, they’ve now been extended to 31st March 2021.
So if you’re thinking about taking a mortgage payment holiday, and haven’t done so yet, you’ll be able to request one of up to 6 months.
If you’ve already taken a mortgage holiday, you’ll be able to extend it until you hit the 6 month limit.
Wondering if you can still actually move home?
With all the lockdown restrictions, we understand if the actual process of moving itself may leave you uncertain on what you can and can’t do.
You can move home during this time, and the government actually has an overview of how to stay safe while doing so here.
